Welcome to 8th grade general science at Urbana Middle School. Throughout the semester we will study three modules covering variations in Nature, Energy and Space. The class focus is to apply key concepts to hands-on activities and labs to make meaningful connections to the real world and ultimately create life long learning skills.

Objectives for the week of 1-5-09

  • Identify and explain the cause of the phases of the moon. 20.D.2.c
  • Describe how lunar and solar eclipses occurr. 20.D.2.d
  • Identify and describe the relationships among the various properties of waves. 50.D.1
  • Cite examples to show that waves transfer energy from one place to another. Light. 50.D.1.a
  • Describe the relationship between the frequency and the wavelength of a wave (using the EM spectrum). 50.D.1.c
