The Art Room

Welcome to the Art Room !

Art classes are taught using the DBAE (Discipline Based Art Education) method, with the 4 components being Critical,Historical/Cultural,Production, and Aesthetics. Children learn about the Art Elements and Principles (line, shape, color, pattern, etc). They learn how artists use these elements and principles as well as their senses  and personal experiences  to create artworks. Fine Arts by renown master artists are studied and the many different art styles and historical art periods as well as Art of other cultures.

Children create artworks through drawing, painting, sculpting, printmaking, etc. I invite you to display these artworks at home. When your child brings home artwork, ask questions such as:

  • what kinds of shapes did you use?
  • why did you choose them?
  • which colors are your favorite?   why?
  • How did you make this artwork?

Check out Art Links for kids and and experience Art with your child!
