Kindergarten Music Class

Kindergarten is the first year that we have music class. Two of the main things that we learn in music class in kindergarten is keeping a steady beat and singing in tune.

The steady beat is like our pulse. When we listen to music, we can hear a beat that we can make us move all different ways. We can pat our legs, clap our hands, stomp our feet, flap our arms, or do any other movement that we want that matches the beat of the music! Kindergarten students can practice the steady beat at home when they hear music.

Singing in tune is learned through practice. The more a student sings, the better in tune he or she can sing. We have been learning many new songs through echoing, and playing singing games. All children have around the same range in their singing voice. When you listen to a child's voice, it is impossible to tell the difference between a boy's voice and a girl's voice. Kindergarten students can practice singing in tune at home just by singing songs!
