WHITTIER HEROES:  Welcome To Physical Education!

The Physical Education Staff at Whittier Elementary is delighted to have the opportunity to work with you and your children this year, developing a lifelong love and desire for fitness and developing basic skills that will be used throughout life. Our units of study lead toward individual fitness, skill development, safety practices, and social interaction. We invite you to join your child for physical education. You may be surprised at what takes place in the 'gym' these days. We integrate classroom curriculum into the Physical Education program when it is appropriate, in order to present more realistic problem-solving situations and to move away from the lock-step, text dominated learning. When you visit, you may enjoy a lesson that can take you to a foreign country to learn traditional games or dances. Lessons often include reading written text and/or using math skills.
