Spring Ridge Elementary has many exciting reading and writing programs.

Reading Specialist:

       Mrs. Craney has been employed for FCPS for 23 years. She has taught Kindergarten, First and Second Grade. Mrs. Craney has taught at South Frederick Elementary, Kemptown Elementary, East Frederick Elementary and Spring Ridge Elementary. She has been a Reading Specialist for 15 years, 8 at Walkersville Elementary and 7 at Spring Ridge.  Mrs. Craney has taught MSDE courses for FCPS. She is a trained Reading Recovery Teacher and taught Reading Recovery for 11 years. She is a trained LLS teacher and taught the program for 3 years.

Targeted Reading Intervenion Teachers:

Mrs. Babb has been a teacher for 20 years. She has worked with Frederick County Public Schools for 14of those 20 years. She has been teaching at Spring Ridge Elementary for six years as a Reading Recovery Teacher and Targeted Reading Intervention Teacher with first, second and third grades.

Mrs. Barnhart has been teaching for five years with the last 4 years at Spring Ridge Elementary School.  She has taught in first and second grade classrooms and is currently the L/LSP teacher.

Mrs. Bruder began teaching in New York twenty-four years ago and has been teaching for Frederick County Public Schools since 1989.  She has taught Special Ed Preschool, worked as an Itinerant Hearing Specialist throughout the county (PreK-12), taught Adult Education classes and has been a Targeted Reading Intervention Teacher for the last five years.  She is a trained Reading Recovery Teacher.

 Mrs. Niziolek has been teaching for 25 years with the last 10 years being at Spring Ridge.  She has also taught in Montgomery and Baltimore counties.   Most of her teaching career has been spent in first and second grade classrooms.  Mrs. N is a certified Reading Recovery teacher and has been teaching RR students for the last 7 years.  She began working as a Targeted Language Arts teacher  5 years ago and began working on her Orton-Gillingham certification.
