Mrs. Brennan's Kindergarten

We Welcome Our Newest Jr. Hawks

Hello, I am Kim Brennan, one of the Kindergarten teachers at Urbana. I would like to welcome you to the school and to my class.  I look forward to working with you to help make this a great experience for your child.  I hope this webpage will help answer some of your questions about our program.

I have a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education from James Madison University and have credit hours beyond a Master's degree. This is my fourteenth year teaching Kindergarten at UES. Some of my responsibilities have included being a Team Leader, Targeted Reading and Math Intervention Teacher, and Mentor Teacher.  I love working with children this age.  They are so eager to learn!  The parents at UES help to make this a wonderful school!

My husband and I will be celebrating our 30th anniversary in December! We have three children.  Our oldest daughter and her husband made us grandparents in February.  What a blessing!  Our son graduated from James Madison University and our youngest daughter is in her junior year at Madison. I love reading, working in my flower garden, visiting Starbucks and spending time at Deep Creek Lake with my family.

I believe all students are capable of learning and that it is important to have high expectations for student achievement.  Children at this age learn through hands-on experiences and modeling.  I believe they need to be actively engaged for the best learning to take place. I also would like my students to believe learning can be fun, and I hope they carry this thought with them as they become life long learners.

If you have any questions or need to contact me, my email is: Kim.Brennan@fcps.org, and the school phone number is: 240-236-2200.  I usually answer email daily.
