Mrs. Kennedy's Website - 8th Grade Language Arts

Purpose of Website: Welcome to Mrs. Kennedy's website!  This site is dedicated to parents/guardians and students.  Throughout the semester I will update the site weekly to include important information that applies to my classes, including what we're currently studying, homework, and any other pertinent information.  The intention of this site is to expand the path of communication in our educational communityI hope that you will visit it often.  I will update homework every Monday, and include other new information as it occurs.

What's going on in our class week of Jan. 5?

Current Unit:  Mystery

This week we will begin the Mystery unit.  We will start with an overview of the genre and quickly move into reading various works by Edgar Allan Poe, beginning with The Tell-Tale Heart.  The students will complete their fourth CRES BCR, also.   We will review the roots pos/pon/posit in word study.  Lastly, we will visit the library on Thursday, so please be sure to bring your books and keep your genre passports updated.

Homework beginning the week of Jan. 5:

Blue and Yellow Classes

  • Reminder:  You need to complete 6 genres by the end of term 2 (Jan. 16).
  • "pos/pon" flashcards due Wed., 1/7.
  • "pos/pon" quiz Fri., 1/9.
  • Reading log #7 due Mon., 1/12 - focus: Identify a cause and effect relationship. 

Red Class: 

  • Reminder:  You need to complete 3 genres by the end of term 2 (Jan. 16).
  • "pos/pon" flashcards due Wed., 1/7.
  • "pos/pon" quiz Fri., 1/9.
