Hello.  My name is Liz Sherman and this is my 9th year as Community Liaison at Ballenger Creek Elementary School.  My primary responsiblity is to work with parents and children to develop and maintain communications between home and school.  I help keep parents informed about their child's social and academic adjustment.  If parents have questions I will assist them in getting the answers for them or put them in touch with someone who has the answers.  I provide information to parents about programs that are available at the school and in the community.  In addition I encourage and faciliate family visitation and involvement in school functions, programs and conferences. I communicate parent concerns to members of the school staff to assist children to be successful in school.  Each day I make attendance calls when a child is absent and assist families in working on attendance issues.   I work with families to make effective use of available community services, including CASS (Community Agency School Services) and other agencies.
