Welcome to Miss Welty's 8th Grade Language Arts!

I hope that this finds you all happy and ready for a great year!  I am so looking forward to this year with you ALL!

With this webpage, I hope to keep you updated on the goings-on and happenings in our classroom.  We will have a busy year full of reading, writing and lots of learning about ourselves and eachother....all through written and verbal communication.

I will try to keep things consistent for every class, but if there is anything specific to any class, I will put a note with your class's color. (Parents: please ask your students to let you know which class color they are!)

WEEK of December 15th:

Unit of Study: Self - Reliance

Word Study (quiz on Friday): pen/pend (to weigh, to stop)

Special events:  Movies this week!  Honors: "The Outsiders" on Wednesday and Thursday!  Surprise movie for Merit on Wednesday and Thursday (goes with stories of self-reliance)...Happy Holidays!  Honors will watch same movie on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Reading Logs: Due on Monday, December 22nd: Summarize the plot of the text.

Assignments:  MERIT (Yellow class) -- Winter Themed Projects are due on MONDAY, DECEMBER 22nd!!  Presentations are on the 22nd and 23rd!

Special Announcements: Wednesday -- BLUE class will miss class on Wednesday due to the Holiday Concert at UHS.  We will make up movie time -- don't worry!
