Monday:
Finish essay packet (due today)
Begin Greek Drama
notes on structure of greek drama and theatre, began THEATRE film.
HW: work on pocket poem.
Tuesday:
- warm up
- Finish movie, discuss. What did you learn? What did you notice about the scenery?
- Continue notetaking with ANTIGONE
- Define comedy/tragedy
- Discuss contemporary examples
- Ask students to brainstorm how you can get across comedy and tragedy in a play
- Read introduction and answer questions. Discuss who Socrates is.
HW: finish reading introduction and answering questions (packet handout in class); POCKET POEM!
Wednesday:
- warm up
- Discuss introduction- check questions. What were their answers? What did they learn about the play?
- notes: role of the chorus.
- Pass out BCRs
- Pass out study guide packets- due TUESDAY
- Read first choral ode together
- Antigone:
- Ismene
- Creon
- Guard
- Chorus: all
- Read the rest of the assignment, and answer questions as you go.
- HW: read up until 4th choral ode
Thursday:
- warm up
- ARCHETYPES with Antigone
- Put up definition, read and explain.
- Pass out worksheets
- Have students read through and ID one modern example for each, either from film, novel, TV, etc?.
- are you noticing any archetypes in Antigone thus far?
- Discuss plot thus far- what?s going on at this point? Who are our main characters? What is the main conflict? Describe the characters.
- Allow time to read and work on study guide
- HW: finish ANTIGONE
Friday
1. warm up: FREE WRITE FRIDAY
pop quiz!
2. Discuss plot elements of ANTIGONE- 4th ode til ending.
3. Begin watching ANTIGONE Film
