Monday:

Finish essay packet (due today)

Begin Greek Drama

notes on structure of greek drama and theatre, began THEATRE film.

HW: work on pocket poem.

 

Tuesday:

  1. warm up
  2. Finish movie, discuss.  What did you learn?  What did you notice about the scenery? 
  3. Continue notetaking with ANTIGONE
    1. Define comedy/tragedy
    2. Discuss contemporary examples
    3. Ask students to brainstorm how you can get across comedy and tragedy in a play
  4. Read introduction and answer questions.  Discuss who Socrates is.

HW:  finish reading introduction and answering questions (packet handout in class); POCKET POEM!

 

Wednesday:

 

  1. warm up
  2. Discuss introduction- check questions.  What were their answers?  What did they learn about the play?
  3. notes: role of the chorus.
    1. Pass out BCRs
  4. Pass out study guide packets- due TUESDAY
  5. Read first choral ode together
    1. Antigone:
    2. Ismene
    3. Creon
    4. Guard
    5. Chorus:  all
  6. Read the rest of the assignment, and answer questions as you go.
  7. HW:  read up until 4th choral ode

Thursday:

 

  1. warm up
  2. ARCHETYPES with Antigone
    1. Put up definition, read and explain.
    2. Pass out worksheets
    3. Have students read through and ID one modern example for each, either from film, novel, TV, etc?.
    4. are you noticing any archetypes in Antigone thus far?
    5. Discuss plot thus far- what?s going on at this point? Who are our main characters?  What is the main conflict?  Describe the characters.
  3. Allow time to read and work on study guide
  4. HW: finish ANTIGONE

Friday

 

1.  warm up: FREE WRITE FRIDAY

pop quiz!

2.  Discuss plot elements of ANTIGONE- 4th ode til ending.

3.  Begin watching ANTIGONE Film

HW:  study guide and BCRs due TUESDAY*   don't forget about your pocket poetry and free verse, due 4/30!!

 

*This has been changed from previous due date of MONDAY!
