warm up:  vocab words PATHOS-

classwork:  Library research day... work on projects/research

Homework:  continue to follow TKAM reading schedule; vocab sentences due Wed; continue to work on TKAM vocabulary.

Tuesday:

warm up:  Facebook trial; Ch. 19-20 quiz

classwork:  change point of view with trial.  Discussion:  POV story is told from, effect of its' change.  Students choose one character from novel and retell the trial/piece of the trial from his/her POV.  Discussion: dialect, how it presents a character/creates an impression of the character.  Emotive language: how is language used to create reader response?  Student worked in groups to come up with 3 emotions felt in Ch. 19-21, found 3 textual examples to support, and wrote how Lee's choice of language created this effect.

assessment:  BCR:  how does Lee's language choice (diction) evoke a particular reader response?

HW: continue TKAM work.

Wednesday:

warm up:  finish BCR from yesterday.

classwork:  conflict, rhetoric (review Atticus' speech CH. 20 and identify rhetorical devices), analyzing expository texts. LU#36*

BCR:  show how author's use of rhetorical devices (ch.20 speech) contributes to the theme of the novel.

Homework: TKAM

Thursday:

warm up: imagine LHS has been socially divided into 2 groups.... you are placed in the minority.... you are accused of plagiarism, a crime you didn't commit... what is the outcome?  what is your reaction?

classwork:   author's style; conflict; LU#36*

1.BCR:  analyze how the conflicts of TKAM reveal author?s purpose.  LA.E10.10.02a
