Welcome Back! 

Hope you had a lovely summer break.

Please join me in welcoming Laura Snyder to SRES, she is the new art teacher and will be here 2 days a week Wednesdays and Thursdays.  SRES will be sharing Miss Snyder with Orchard Grove Elementary.  She has here hands full getting 2 artrooms set up, stocked and decorated.

Wow, this year we have a very different class schedule with A weeks, B weeks and 55minute classes.  Should be an exciting and fun filled learning experience for us all.

Grades K,1& 2  -  will begin the year by looking closely at master artwork prints using the "See/ Think/ Wonder" exercise to aid discussion, use of art vocabulary / concepts and students observational skills.  We will also put together the student folder and sketchbook that will be use on and off all year.  Of course we will go over school and class room rules and routines.

Grades 3,4 & 5 - will also begin the year looking closely at master artwork prints also using the "See/ Think/ Wonder" exercise in coordination with cooperative team work and class presentations.   Students will make and bind their own sketchbook that will be kept in their student folder in the art room all year.  We will go over school and class room rules and routines.   Grade 5 students will also make and decorate a portfolio to house their artwork in the art room for the year, and put together an workbook that will be kept in their student folder all year as well.
