Welcome to Ms. Susan Watson's Home Page!
I am a 6th Grade Reading Intervention/Language Arts Teacher.

I am fortunate to be starting my second year at WFMS this year AND starting my 18th year teaching with FCPS. Previously, I taught 7 years of sixth grade, 7 years of seventh grade, and was a Literacy Specialist for 3 years. I received my Master's degree in Curriculum Development from UMBC.
And I have a 19 year-old daughter who works in the publishing field and keeps me on my toes!
What We Teach:
I am lucky to team-teach with Mrs. Jane Hatcher in room 3104.
In our class, students will learn about literature and Ancient Civilizations while practicing and improving their reading and writing skills. We believe in variety, enrichment, movement, and the importance of curiosity.
- Our units will be "Adventure," "Courage," and "Challenges." We will be reading stories, maps, articles and poems on these themes.
- Students will work on our ReadAbout computer program, which individualizes for each student so that students are practicing the skills they most need.
- Students will participate in a Writing Workshop to hone their writing skills and explore different purposes for writing.
- Students will have opportunities to show what they know through a variety of enrichment opportunities.
Grading:
Students in our class will get three grades: one in Language Arts, one in Reading Intervention, and one in Social Studies.
